Nearby result framing

← What's newsearch and navigation

Press Nearby and the map now frames your location and the single closest result. Before, it tried to fit everything it measured. The other results may sit outside the view until you pick one, so the two things you asked about are on screen at a readable zoom.

The row of list controls is replaced by an exit bar while Nearby is on, so leaving takes one press. Pressing Nearby again, or All, puts the list back in its normal order, scrolled to the feature that was closest. The pin stays on the map, so Nearby can switch straight back.

Groundwork also prefers walking for anything within about 1.5 km, so a short trip is measured the way you would actually make it.

How to try it

  1. Search an address in the location box at the top of the map.
  2. Press Nearby above the feature list and watch the map frame the address and the closest feature.
  3. Press the exit bar to go back to the full list.

Exploring features in the User Guide covers this in full.
