User Guide

The User Guide is for the person working with the map: viewing what’s there, capturing new features, and keeping the details up to date. No mapping experience is needed. Groundwork is designed for people who know the data they’re maintaining, not GIS software.

Typically your administrator has prepared a map — say, the council’s street trees — and sent you a link to open it. This guide starts there and covers everything you’ll do day to day:

Opening a map
Open the link your administrator shared.
Finding your way around
The map, the Data panel, and the layer controls.
Viewing and finding features
Select, search, filter, and sort.
Capturing and editing features
Add new features and update details.
Troubleshooting
When something doesn’t look right.
