Who is Vectoria

Simon O'Keefe is the former founder of Pozi, the popular web GIS platform used by local government across Australia.

Vectoria is a new vision to help organisations of any size to manage, update and share critical, time-sensitive, location-based information.

Why another web map tool

In most organisations a GIS team maintains the authoritative data, while the staff who know the ground can see the map but not change it. So staff send updates to the GIS team as emails and spreadsheets, and someone there enters them by hand.

The tools for keeping one dataset current have never been the right size for the job. Desktop GIS is a lot of software to install and learn for a single task. Web GIS platforms are priced for a whole organisation. Field capture apps are built for a phone in the field. The licensing is complex, and the same person at a desk has nothing to use.

That is the gap Groundwork fills. The GIS team publishes straight from QGIS, staff open a link, and the people closest to the data are the ones keeping it right. The Use cases page shows what that looks like day to day.

Groundwork's unique approach

Groundwork began with a question. What would a geospatial application look like if the only thing it had to do was keep one layer up to date?

A single layer takes away most of what makes a geospatial application hard to learn. Groundwork opens with the data you look after already on the screen. The time we saved went into making it a pleasure to use: how you find the feature you want, and how few steps it takes to change it.
