Vectoria's vision is to help organisations of any size to manage, update and share critical, time-sensitive, location-based information.

Vectoria's founder, Simon O'Keefe, also founded Pozi, the popular web GIS platform used by local government across Australia.

Why another web map tool?

Your GIS team keeps the authoritative data. The staff who know the ground can see the map but not change it. So they send updates to the GIS team as emails and spreadsheets, and someone there enters them by hand.

Each of the usual tools makes it hard to keep a dataset current. Desktop GIS is a lot of software to install and learn for a single task. Web GIS platforms are a lot to pay for when each person only needs to update one layer. Field capture apps are built for a phone, so they don't help the same person back at their desk. And the licensing for most of them is complex.

With Groundwork, the GIS team publishes straight from QGIS and sends staff a link. Staff enter each change once, straight into the data. The Use cases page shows what that looks like day to day.

Built around one layer

Groundwork started with a question. What would a mapping application look like if it were built for someone with only one layer to look after? Someone who has never used GIS could understand it the first time they open it.

When you open Groundwork, the data you look after is already on the screen. Because we built for one layer, we could spend our time on how you find the feature you want, and how few steps it takes to change it.
